Ginn sur Mer salutes luxury boating lifestyle with Caribbean’s largest megayacht marina

For the boating enthusiast, only one vision rivals that of the open sea – that of an island home with a place to dock their vessel. Ginn sur Mer™, a $4.9 billion Ginn resort under development at the gateway to the Caribbean, will celebrate the boating lifestyle with an oceanfront community equipped with the largest megayacht marina in the region and a variety of maritime activity.

Located on Grand Bahama Island’s western tip just 55 miles from South Florida, Ginn sur Mer will be connected by a grand canal and anchored by a marina tailored especially for megayachts. With six miles of water frontage, Ginn sur Mer’s megayacht marina can accommodate 18 250-foot megayachts and 80 100-foot yachts.

Once complete, the megayacht marina will provide customs and immigration clearance, in-dock fueling, floating docks, a dry stack building that can withstand 160 mph winds, captain cottages and a cigar bar and pub.

The marina, which will have a depth of 15 feet at mean low water mark and 18 feet at high water mark, will also offer 99-year leases on dock slips and provide fuel, day slips and shuttle repair.

Under the direction of a harbormaster with decades of experience in the luxury boating realm, guests can dock their own boat or arrange a charter for a day of snorkeling, fishing or sightseeing.

Ginn sur Mer, with nearly 2,000 single-family residential home sites and more than 4,400 condominium and hotel units, will also offer luxury amenities and activities including a Monte Carlo-style casino, a private airport and runway, clubhouses, casual and fine dining restaurants, water and swim pavilions, a spa and several beach clubs.

To craft the ultimate island golf experience at Ginn sur Mer, golf legends Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer were commissioned to create two signature courses, each featuring oceanfront holes.

The 7,650-yard Palmer course is 70 percent complete. The total price tag for both courses is estimated at $36 million.

The resort is expected to be fully operational by 2013. Home sites, condominiums and villas are available for purchase.
