THE LOBSTERS ARE WAITING FOR YOU AT
OLD BAHAMA BAY RESORT & YACHT HARBOUR
Lobster season is now open until March 31 and there’s nowhere you’ll find more of them than in the fertile lobster grounds adjacent to the Old Bahama Bay Resort on Grand Bahama Island. Make your reservations now for your room and a boat slip, then pack your tickle stick, landing net and lobster bag.
The bag limit in the Bahamas is 6 per person and the carapace minimum is 3 3/8 inches (compared to 3 inches in the US), or six inches tail length. And, no scuba gear can be used while taking lobster. You must also possess a valid Bahamas cruising permit, which can be obtained at the Customs Office at the Old Bahama Bay Marina.
Any lobsters harvested in the Bahamas during its open season cannot be transported by private vessel into state waters during Florida’s closed season, and lobsters brought back to Florida must be in whole condition and not tailed.
So, fill your boat with fuel (or charter a boat when you get to Old Bahama Bay) and get ready to reach your bag limit early in the day so you can enjoy the beach and the many activities at the resort, including delicious refreshments at Teaser’s beach bar and grill.
